Beverly A. Dureault Johnson Formerly of Westford, MA; 79 OWLS HEAD, Maine/WESTFORD, MA -- Beverly A. Dureault Johnson, 79, died peacefully, surrounded by her five beautiful daughters, Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at her home in Owls Head. Born in Reading, Massachusetts, October 18, 1932, she was one of 15 children born to Percy and Manola Willis Nickles. Educated in Lowell, MA, Beverly lost her own mother when she was 16 years old. It was at this point that she began her life-long occupation of caregiver and mother, to her father as well as her six younger siblings. Beverly spent over 30 years of her life in Westford, Massachusetts, raising her own eight children and three step-children. She was a wonderful cook who always had a meal at the ready. Her generous spirit led her to provide home-cooked meals for anyone in need. She was famous for her decadent rich and creamy dishes, and her children often referred to her home as the "land of cream and butter." She was a longtime member of the Winslow-Holbrook-Merritt American Legion Post No. 1 Auxiliary and cherished the many wonderful friendships she formed there. She spent many hours volunteering at "The Club", cooking for Sunday breakfasts, serving food, and setting up for receptions. Beverly had a terrific sense of humor and quick wit that stayed with her until the end. Her straight forward demeanor, albeit sometimes brutal honest, was something you could always count on. In Beverly's daughters, you will find one very strong characteristic in each that was purely an integral part of her: the nurturer, the philosopher, the designer, the organizer and the comedian. You put all five together, you get Beverly times ten. Bev also had extremely close relationships with her sons-in-law. She treated them as sons and held them very close in her heart. Some of them were even known to head to Maine and spend the week with her without their wives, her daughters! Beverly is survived by those five daughters and their husbands, Karen Boisjoly and her husband, Richard of Nashua, NH, Susan McGregor-Horn and her husband, Harry, Donna Dureault and her husband, Kevin Baur, Catherine Schoenenberger and her husband, Keith, Gail Johnson and her husband, Keith Cobleigh, all of Westford, MA; three sons, Kenneth Dureault, Sr. and his wife, Susan of West Yarmouth, MA, Bruce Dureault, Sr. of Palm Bay, Florida, Brian Dureault of Haverhill, MA; two step-children, Robert Johnson of Westford, MA, Wendy Johnson Dutile of Dracut, MA; three siblings, Priscilla Sanders, Paul and Florence Nickles and Blanche and James Rowley; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two dear sisters-in-law, Barbara Nickles of Owls Head, Alberta Nickles of Union; and many nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Ronald Nickles of Owls Head; countless friends and self-proclaimed "adopted" children. Beverly was predeceased by 11 siblings, Robert, Stephen, Alfred, James, Varnum, Charlotte, Charles, Carl (who donated a kidney to his sister in 1986, helping extend her life another 25 years), Donald, Edward and Walter, and step-son Wesley Johnson.
